Friends of Ardee Bog

Since 2018 Katie Holten has been campaigning to protect Ardee Bog in County Louth, Ireland’s most easterly raised bog.

In 2019 she co-founded Friends of Ardee Bog, a local community action group.

A shared love of Ardee Bog brought us together.

Through research, outreach, walking, conversation, oral history, and storytelling we want to gather and share information about Ardee Bog.

Along the way, we hope to show the beauty and importance of this precious ecosystem.

We want to conserve and protect Ardee Bog for our families and future generations.

In September 2021 the Irish Times visited us. Click here to watch their video.

On September 15 2021 Friends of Ardee Bog held a protest outside the Dáil. We held a silent vigil and delivered our petition to Minister Malcolm Noonan and Paul Murphy T.D.
